The Attention Trainer
A free tool from Origami Factory · origamifactory.co

Children do not lose focus because they lack willpower. Research from Cal Newport's Deep Work shows that every time a child relieves boredom with a screen, the brain is trained to require constant stimulation — making deep concentration impossible, even when they want it. This tool builds the opposite habit, week by week.

Bore drills
How this works. Each week you get four activities, one per category. Log each session after it happens. Target durations increase slightly each week — that steady increase is what builds the skill.

Daily boredom tolerance drills
From Deep Work Rule 2. If a child never sits with boredom, the brain loses the ability to concentrate, even when it wants to. These small daily moments of doing nothing are the foundation of everything else.

Why this works. Newport showed that concentration is built the same way muscle is: through progressive overload of focused effort, followed by genuine rest. These activities are deliberate practice sessions for the brain.
